A new phase begins now

Dear Friends of Lolita~

Ever since our efforts began 12 years ago to allow Lolita (captured from L pod in 1970) to return to her home waters, we've known it was a long shot. Since Lolita is not a movie star like Keiko, we've always needed a different sort of miracle to create a credible publicity campaign to negotiate with the owner of the Miami Seaquarium for her retirement. Now it's looking like that may be starting to happen. More will follow as this new phase begins to take off.

One of the major problems all along has been that there are only a few credible researchers who are willing and able to publicly vouch for the proposition that the retirement proposal (see below) poses no real risk to Lolita at any stage of the process.

This is a general call for established scientists who will talk to the public through media in order to help make the case that a well-planned, cautious and professional transport and retirement poses no significant risk to Lolita's health or to orcas in the wild.
